The Texas Deans of Students council exists to provide networking and support for senior-level student affairs officers at both public and private institutions of higher education in the State of Texas.

Winter Retreat

The 2026 TXDOS Retreat will be held January 8th and 9th at the University of Houston Downtown. 

Registration for the retreat will be open December 1st.

What is the Texas Deans of Students council (TXDOS)?

The Texas Deans of Students council is an organization dedicated to supporting senior-level student affairs professionals at public and private institutions of higher education in the State of Texas. We provide resources and networking to help support these professionals in supporting students pursuing higher education within the state.

Do I need to be "Dean of Students" in order to participate?

No. Members have many different titles. To participate, you must be designated by the chief student affairs administrator at your campus.

Where does the Texas Deans of Students Council meet?

The group meets in person each year at the annual meeting of the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA) meeting. 

TXDOS hosts monthly Teams meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. These invites can be forwarded to members by emailing Jennifer Skinner at jennifer.skinner@untdallas.edu. 

TXDOS also sponsors an annual Winter Retreat each January.

What happens at the Dean's Breakfast at TACUSPA?

The Dean's Breakfast includes the opportunity to meet other senior student affairs professionals in an informal setting. Participants also have the opportunity to raise issues for discussion on "hot topics" in student affairs.  

What happens at the Winter Retreat?

The Winter Retreat provides the opportunity to socialize with other senior student affairs professionals in an informal setting. Participants will present on topics chosen by the group as relevant and timely to our work in student affairs. 

Is TXDOS open to private colleges and universities?

Yes.  TXDOS is open to public and private, two and four year schools.

Yes. TXDOS is open to public and private, two- and four-year schools.

Is there a cost to be a TXDOS member?

At this point, there are no membership dues for TXDOS. Participants in the Dean's Breakfast must be registered delegates for the TACUSPA conference. There is no cost for attending the Winter Retreat, but each school must arrange and pay for any travel costs or hotel.
